The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) has identified tourism as vehicle for prosperity in Africa and wants to strengthen cooperation between Africa and Asia.
A thorough analysis was conducted of tourism trends in Africa was supplemented by a comprehensive surveys of international tour operators and interviews with key opinion leaders during personal visits to 8 countries in northern, eastern, western and southern Africa. The research highlighted the potential and challenges facing tourism growth in Africa and focused on the needs of Asian operators and travelers.
